What is Tour de Redmond?

The Tour de Redmond is a fun and free competition to encourage you, your friends and colleagues to experience the joys and benefits of riding a bike. There's no better time to start riding to work - it will make you happier, healthier and wealthier, plus you can help your team to win and go into the draw for some amazing prizes!

Generous supporters and bike friendly businesses across the Redmond area are donating fantastic prizes that individuals and teams can qualify for by riding their bikes during the Tour.

How it works

  • You and your friends compete against other teams of up to 10 people
    • Full teams of 10 must have 2 "new riders." You can have a team of 8 existing riders but to have the full 10, you need new riders*
  • The aim is to earn the most points.
  • Points are earned by:
    • riding to work
    • and getting other people to ride to work too.
  • You can ride to work, anytime between June 1 and July 31 to take part.
  • There are also leaderboards and badges for individuals to track their standing throughout the entire Tour!

The Challenge is not just about who can ride the most bike commute miles, but who can encourage the most people to give bike commuting a try.

*New riders are those of us who haven't ridden or only ridden a few times in the past year

You and your team earn points as follows:

We also have bonus points:

  • New riders - DOUBLE day and mile points (Because we want to get more people riding!)

*New riders are those of us who haven't ridden or only ridden a few times in the past year

You earn points by riding and encouraging** others to ride as per above.

Every 50 points you personally earn is another entry into the prize draw.

The more points you earn... the more chances you have of winning some great prizes!

Your team earns points for all the people you get to join your team and all the riding you all do. That means you get a team total of everyone's day, distance, and encourager points**. It's that simple - just tally everyone's riding and encouraging together to see who is on top!

**How I do earn encourager points? It's easy! When someone logs a ride in the Challenge via the website, a little box will open that asks if someone encouraged them to ride. If they type in your name and select you from the list, you get points for encouraging them to ride! This box will open the first 3 trips you log 'manually' via the website, or it can be triggered for your next ride at any time via the 'add an encourager' button on your profile page.

Why sync with Ride Report?

Here are three great reasons to download the Ride Report app:

  1. It logs your rides automatically! No need to press start or stop. Through the magic of technology, the app knows when you’re riding your bike and automatically logs your rides.
  2. Help make your city better for riding - The data collected is used by GRTMA to inform better bike infrastructure decisions!
  3. Automatically go into our prize draws - Not only do you automatically share your data, but by syncing with Love to Ride you also automatically get entered to win prizes!
