Rob WormaldThanks for your comment on my ride Nathan (of course I meant “off”, not “if”). My planned ride companion is still recovering from a brain haemorrhage a couple of years ago so is still not very secure steering the bike, especially in high winds.
Nathan CaldwellRode with a friend along the Columbia River path and then took the path over to some MTB/ATB trail loop along the Yakima River. A bit breezy but it was beautiful clear day with 75F/24C temps. 🚴👍😀We saw a goldfinch on the wing, too!
Nathan CaldwellMy riding companion did me a big favor after ourbride.. he spotted what turned to be a tick(🪲 ick') on my screaming yellow cycling jersey and removed it!
Rob WormaldWe’ve got dozens of goldfinches in the garden. They eat huge amounts of nyger seeds that we put out for them
Nathan CaldwellThanks for your comments Rob. Your riding companion being back on bike at all is achievement on its own. We have nyger out all the time, but haven't seen finches and goldfinches in the numbers we used to!
Nathan CaldwellThree stops today! The vet (again!) to drop off early morning canine urine samples for testing, then to my stylist for a trim, so a not be an ugly American in OZ, and then to the mobile phone store to change our provider, so we have celluar coverage on this trip! The mobile phone store is located on the corner where the woman I encountered yesterday had set her belongs on fire! The mobile phone store staff had quite the tale to tell. A fitness ride to start, and fun one on the return thanks to a rising wind, but pleasant 78F/26C temps made the ride a breeze!
Mary FoleyThank you for your recent posts, Nathan. Indeed, our heat wave has ended and the wind has returned. Today's temps were comfortable, but I could do without the strong East wind. Sounds like you have had some interesting adventures as you prepare for you upcoming holiday "down under." ;)
Steve RankinHas your dog applied for a job requiring pre-employment drug testing?
Nathan CaldwellNot yet...but we are trying to determine if he has Cushing's disease and the test we dropped off the samples for can rule it out. That would save $$, time, and keep the dog happier.🐕🐶
Nathan CaldwellWhile fighting a headwind uphill on the way to the organic grocery to stock up on coffee at a 33% off sale, I passed through an intersection where a woman who had spread her clothing out on the sidewalk on the SW corner and had what seemed to be a roman candle style firework lit in the street. As I rode by she caught my eye and yelled at me "I'm a fire stopper, not a starter!" I rode on to the stoplight about 100 meters further west, and waited to cross a main artery on the way to the store. After finishing shopping, I headed home on the same route, as we had things to accomplish at home for our upcoming trip to Australia. On the same corner where I had passed the "firestopper", I could see a fire truck with lights flashing, and as I rode by, the "fire stopper, had indeed turned into a "fire starter" as much of her clothing lay charred on the sidewalk, and she was surrounded by firemen in their turnouts and helmets, and had the north bound lanes of the intersection closed! I rode home, with the wind this time. LtR ride # 1002 was one of the weirder ones. Temps were cooler than under the Heat Dome Mary's been riding in "only" 86F/30C 😬😮🚴🔥
Adrian LewisHAve fun in OZ. Be sure to share your photos.
Rob WormaldThat’s a very weird experience Nathan, hope for more rational times Down Under🤞🏻
Adrian LewisI can't decide if she is a Prodigy or not!
Nathan CaldwellGot out earlier today to take advantage of a coolish morning, as today is forecast to be quite warm, and tomorrow the winds return! The lollipop loop downstream along the Columbia was an easy cruise on the MTB/ATB in 73F/23C temps, under clear skies and with calm winds 😀🚴👍
Nathan CaldwellOh wow...I have just logged mu One thousand and first ride with Love to Ride! .not quite One Thousand and One Arabian Nights, but therebwere a few good tales chronicled🚲🚴♂️📚
