There are a range of on and off road cycle routes in Rotherham, such as routes to town centres and businesses, the Trans Pennine Trail and routes at Rother Valley Country Park.
Rother Valley Country Park is a great destination for cycling with a range of off road cycle routes alongside and nearby the lakes. The routes vary in length and the park has something for everyone. The Rotherham Cycle Boost scheme is completely free and available for the people of Rotherham.
If you would like to hire a bike there are electric and pedal bikes available for free for up to 3 months from the Rotherham Mobile Cycle Hub. Accessories such as a a helmet, lights and pump are included. See their website for details.
The Trans Pennine Trail passes through Rotherham and provides the opportunity for cyclists to travel longer distances. The trail is a coast to coast route between Southport and Hornsea and is 215 miles long.
The Trail is mapped and signed all the way, mainly traffic free and is surprisingly level considering the dramatic scenery along the way.
