Re-Cycle, the UK charity which sends unwanted bikes to Africa, has teamed up with Colchester-based cycling club, Velo Club Revolution, to host its annual Spring Sportive on Saturday 18th May 2024.
Starting and finishing at Re-Cycle’s warehouse in Wormingford, just outside of Colchester, organisers are keen to encourage capable cyclists of all abilities to take up the challenge and give the event a try. It offers two routes of either 64 or 40 miles that will see riders pedal along the region’s rural roads.
Olympic and World Champion cyclist, Chris Boardman – the patron of Re-Cycle – is supporting the event and will be on hand to cheer on cyclists over the finish line. Chris, an advocate for Re-Cycle’s work and the transformative power of bicycles, will also deliver a post ride talk followed by a Q&A session.
As the Spring Sportive is taking place in May, riders can also take part in Love to Ride's Bike Month Challenge by logging their ride using the Love to Ride app or by syncing with Strava. By doing so you'll earn an entry into the draw for some great prizes!
