Click here to find out how to set up your connection with Strava if you haven't already.
Click on the links below to jump to a specific section, or read on!
At the moment indoor rides canât be automatically synced via Strava.Â
However, we do sync rides from ebikes, handcycles, velomobile, gravel bikes, mountain bikes and electric mountain bikes. If your rides arenât being picked up from these modes, keep reading below to troubleshoot your issue!
Are indoor/stationary rides counted in my area?
The connection with Strava doesn't always transfer rides instantly - when our site is experiencing high volumes of traffic there can be a delay.
âïž Please allow up to 24 hours for your ride to appear. If after this time your ride still hasn't synced across, try another solution below.
When you connect your account with Strava, we only get access to the past 30 days of data. If you want to sync your rides from before this, you will need to log them manually on your user profile.Â
1. Head to www.strava.com and click on 'Privacy Controls' in the left menu bar
2. Make sure that the privacy settings for your rides are set to either 'Everyone' or 'Followers' in the Activities section, as shown below đ
If not, they will not sync across.
Privacy note
When you connect your Strava account with Love to Ride, a link to your Strava profile will be publicly visible next to your rides on Love to Ride. Anyone can click on this and will be taken to your Strava profile on the Strava website. The privacy settings on your Strava account will determine what information is accessible via this link. If you would like to maintain your privacy, we suggest you familiarise yourself with Strava's privacy settings.
If none of the above points fix the problem, then the other option is that you might have more than one Strava account.
Have a look and try to find out if you have multiple Strava profiles with different email addresses. If you might, follow the steps below. đ
1. Visit your Profile settings on Love to Ride and disconnect from Strava
2. Go to www.strava.com and log out of your old account (the one you aren't using)
3. Go back to your Love to Ride Profile settings and reconnect with Strava using the correct Strava account
You should now be connected with the correct Strava account and your rides should come across in the next 24 hours. đ
First, make sure that your Love to Ride profile is correctly linked to your MapMyRide profile. You can see if itâs connected in your Profile settings.
Please disconnect from MapMyRide and then connect it again. This should update the permissions to make sure itâs up to date. Please wait 24 hours for your MapMyRide rides to appear.
Your rides have to be publicly available in MapMyRide for us to be able to sync them across to your Love to Ride profile. Follow the below steps to make sure they can sync.
1. Open the MapMyRide app
2. Go to Settings
3. Click âPrivacyâ
4. Set Route Sharing to âFriendsâ or âEveryoneâ
5. Set Workout sharing to âFriendsâ or âEveryoneâ
Your recent MapMyRide bike rides should then begin syncing to Love to Ride over the next 24 hours.
When you connect your account with MapMyRide, we only get access to the past 5 days of data. If you want to sync your rides from before this, you will need to log them manually on your user profile.
A ride for transportation is any journey you do on your bicycle for the primary purpose of getting to or from somewhere. This could include riding to the store, to visit a friend, to the library etc. To log a ride for transportation, select âtransport to or from other destinationâ when you log a ride manually on the website.
A ride âto or from a meetingâ will also count as a ride for transportation, however there is a separate ride type for commutes to work (more on that below!). Together, your rides to/from work and your rides to other destinations contribute to your CO2 savings and your number of transport trips. Find out more about how we calculate the CO2 here. You can edit a tripâs purpose after logging it. More on that here!
All rides marked as rides âto/from workâ count as commutes. Rides to/from other destinations should be logged under the âtransport to/from other destinationâ trip purpose.
Individual Top Commuter leaderboards count the total number of days on which you have logged a ride âto/from workâ during the campaign period.
The same applies on the Group leaderboards for âMost Commute Daysâ. All Group members' rides âto/from workâ are totaled.Â
Find out how to choose your trip purpose, or how to edit it.
â Ebikes
â Adaptive bikes
â Handcycles
â Velomobile
â
Tricycles
â Gravel bikes
â Mountain bikes
â Electric mountain bikes
Love to Ride is for everyone, whatever their ability or type of bike. Because riders have varying abilities, there are many different variations of adaptive cycles.
You're also welcome to log ebike rides. Ebikes make riding a bike more accessible as they can minimize some barriers (such as tricky hills and long distances) and that helps us achieve our goal of getting more people riding outside.
âïžE-scooters
Whilst e-scooters are totally in the spirit of Love to Ride, we donât allow these rides to count towards the challenge. We've found over the years that focusing on one mode of transport has made our challenges more successful at getting people active and out of cars as we can provide clearer messaging and expertise.
We currently allow indoor rides in certain areas to be logged on the site.
However, you can manually log these on your user profile if this setting has been enabled for riders in your area. Simply enter a distance or length of time, the date, and then select âindoor rideâ:
We understand that there are many barriers to riding that mean that people canât always get outside on their bike. Indoor riding can also be a great way to build confidence and fitness levels, which may help people to get riding outside. This is why in some areas we now allow indoor rides to be logged on the site.Â
If you have a disability that means you canât ride a bicycle but are able to ride on an indoor stationary bike then no matter where you are based you can log your indoor rides with us. We would love you to participate in all our programs and campaigns on your stationary bike and log the rides you do on the Love to Ride site as fun/fitness.
Please note that indoor rides cannot be synced from the Love to Ride app, Strava or MapMyRide and will need to be logged manually.
Currently, Love to Ride is only set up to connect with Strava and MapMyRide. If you use a training device to track your rides, there is a good chance you can connect this with Strava, which can then sync to your Love to Ride profile. Find out more about syncing with Strava here.
Yes! You're welcome to log e-bike rides. E-bikes make riding a bike more accessible as they can minimize some barriers (such as tricky hills and long distances) and that helps us achieve our goal of getting more people riding outside.
Yes, Love to Ride is open to everyone, whatever their ability or type of bike. Because riders have varying abilities, there are many different variations of adaptive cycles.
Read more about these options on the Move United website.
When you log a ride, youâll be asked to select a trip purpose. Simply choose one from the dropdown menu and it will be saved as such!
đ±For our Love to Ride app users, the app will remember your last ride purpose and automatically apply this to future rides. This will remain your default ride type until you change your trip purpose again!
If your ride is less than 6 miles your ride purpose will default to âtransport to or from workâ when it it occurs between:
Rides less than 3 miles will default to âtransport to or from other destinationâ anytime on the weekend and at these times:
This is the same if you are syncing your rides from Strava. You can also use the âcommuteâ tag on Strava, which will be picked up as âride to/from workâ on your Love to Ride profile.
Note: If you update your Strava ride with the âCommuteâ tag after saving it, this will not come across as âto/from workâ and will need to be edited manually on Love to Ride.Â
Want to edit the purpose after logging your ride? More info below.
If you want to change the trip purpose after you've logged it, here's how.

This is where youâll find your âat-a-glanceâ stats. You can specify the time period or campaign youâd like to view your stats for by clicking on the little white arrow highlighted in the image above and choosing from the dropdown menu.Â
For a visual representation, you can graph your stats for specified time periods and metrics and compare them to the previous year. You can also use this feature to graph your workplaceâs stats.
The figure for the amount of CO2 saved relates to trips that have been logged for transport purposes only. The statistic relates to the total amount of CO2 released by an average car, of unknown fuel type, which roughly estimates the amount of CO2 saved by cycling instead of driving. It is calculated as follows:
Total units traveled x kg CO2 per unit = total kg CO2
This calculation is the total distance of trips logged for transport purposes multiplied by the amount of CO2 released by an average car, which equals the total kilograms of CO2 per mile.
DEFRA's carbon conversion factor for an average car fuel unknown was used. This is 0.29143kg CO2 per mile (0.18109kg of CO2 per kilometre) is provided in 'Greenhouse gas reporting: conversion factors 2017â.

6. Choose your industry from the dropdown menu and click 'Next'
7. Fill out the details for your workplace
It is important that the address is accurate as this will ensure that you see local content and make sure your workplace is eligible for local campaigns.

You can exclude co-workers who are on maternity leave, long-term sick leave, sabbatical, other long-term leave, or based outside of the country for the full duration of the challenge period. Read more information about who to include in the staff count here.
Please ensure the workplace staff count is as accurate as possible. If you aren't sure, please reach out to a member of staff who can tell you this. You can make an estimate to set up the Workplace Profile and then update it later with the correct number. (Find out how to do that here.)

You will be automatically made the Champion. If you want to change who the Champion is, follow these steps.
If you don't work, or have left your workplace, you can register as an individual. Find out how.
To make it as fair as possible, workplaces and departments should only compete with workplaces/departments that are of a similar size to them, therefore itâs essential that the staff numbers we have are correct.
Having departments is a great way to create some competition within your workplace. Itâs simple to set up a new department.
Note: Departments should not be different sites - they should be departments within one workplace site, such as Marketing, Paediatrics, or Maintenance etc. Find out how to set up an Workplace Profile here.
1. Go to your Profile Page
2. Click on the pencil icon next to your workplace
3. Click âRegister a new departmentâ below the dropdown menu
4. Fill out the department name and total department staff count
5. Click âCreateâ - thatâs it! You will be automatically added to this department
Find out how to switch departments here.Â
Just like Workplace Profiles, Department Profiles have a Champion. The person who set up the Department Profile will automatically be assigned as the Champion at first. If youâd like to change this, the current Department Champion can do so by clicking on the âEdit Departmentâ button below the profile picture, choosing the new Champion from the dropdown list, and clicking âUpdate Departmentâ at the bottom to save.
If your workplace has changed, you can easily switch to your new one. If your new workplace already has a profile on Love to Ride, follow the steps below. If you need to set one up, find out how here.
1. Go to your Profile Page
2. Click on the pencil icon next to your workplace
3. Click âChange your workplaceâ
4. Type in the name of your new workplace, press enter and select your new workplace from the list.
Thatâs it! Your new workplace will now show on your Profile Page.
If your workplace doesnât come up, try searching for other possible names. If it hasnât been set up on Love to Ride yet, itâs simple to do it yourself! Find out how.
2. Click on the pencil icon next to your workplace
3. Choose the department youâd like to join from the dropdown menu
4. Click âUpdate profileâ - your department will now show next to your workplace on your profile.
You can invite people to your workplace by sending them the website address of your workplace profile page or by clicking on the 'invite co-workers' button on the right-hand side of your Workplace Profile.
Note: the 'Invite co-workers button will open up your mailing app. If you do not have a mailing app installed, you can send the direct hyperlink to your Workplace profile instead (just copy and paste it from the address bar when you are on your Workplace Profile Page).
If you have left your workplace or you don't work, you can register as an individual.
Although some of our challenges feature competition between workplaces, you can absolutely participate if you don't work, work independently, or are retired. đ
If you have never been registered with a workplace on Love to Ride, then you don't need to do anything apart from select 'register as an individual' when you first sign up.
If you are currently registered with a workplace but want to leave it, follow these simple steps. đ
1. Head to your Workplace Profile
2. Find the panel on the right-hand side that looks something like this:
3. Click on 'Leave workplace' and confirm in the pop-up
If you are your workplace's Champion, you will be asked to allocate a new Champion before leaving.
Note: If you can't see the panel on the right-hand side of your Workplace Profile, you can leave/change your workplace by going to your Rider Profile and clicking on the pencil icon next to your workplace listing (under your name). Then select 'register as an individual' to take part without a workplace.
You can then either join a new workplace or continue to ride without one. If you do happen to ride as a member of a Club/Group then you can join one of those on Love to Ride. Find out more about Clubs/Groups here. If not, keep on riding, and we look forward to seeing you racking up the miles! đČ
If it's time for somebody else to take the reins, it's really easy to change your workplace's Champion.
Note: There can currently only be one Champion per workplace.
1. Go to your Workplace Profile by clicking on it on your Profile Page
2. Click on the 'Change Champion' button, select the new Champion from the list, and complete the reason for the change (e.g. 'No longer works here')
This will then need to be approved by the Love to Ride team. Once that is done, the new Champion will be updated.
ï»żIf your workplace is in the cycling industry, it will not show on the leaderboard by default.
We separate out workplaces in the cycling industry to keep them together on a specific cycling industry leaderboard. This is to keep the competition accessible for workplaces in other industries. Otherwise, cycling workplaces would frequently claim the top spots, which would be discouraging for other workplaces.
ï»żï»żYou can see your position by filtering the 'all industries' leaderboard by 'cycling industry'.
If your workplace is not in the cycling industry and you canât see it, please get in touch with our Support team by emailing support@lovetoride.net with as much information as possible.

School or university profiles are for both students and staff who can contribute to their school or university points together and compete on the same leaderboards.Â
Students and staff both exist on the same profile, under two different types of rider, âCo-workersâ or âStudentsâ, each with their own tab on the universityâs profile.
The âTop Ridersâ tab can also be filtered for âAll ridersâ, âCo-workersâ or âStudentsâ.

If it's time for somebody else to take the reins, it's really easy to change your school or universities Champion.
Note: although there can only be one Champion per school or university, shared between students and staff, each school or university department also has their own champion. See below for more information on setting up a department.Â
1. Go to your school or university profile by clicking on it on your Profile Page
2. Click on the 'Change Champion' button, select the new Champion from the list, and complete the reason for the change (e.g. 'No longer works here')
This will then need to be approved by the Love to Ride team. Once that is done, the new Champion will be updated.
Having departments is a great way to create some competition within your school or university. Itâs simple to set up a new department.
Note: departments should not be located in different university or school campuses, they should sit within one school or university site. For example, Marketing, Paediatrics, or Maintenance etc. If your university has multiple campuses with different addresses, they should have different university or school profiles. Find out how to set up a school or university Profile here.
1. Go to your Profile Page
2. Click on the pencil icon next to your school or university
3. Click âRegister a new departmentâ below the dropdown menu
4. Fill out the department name and total department staff and student count
5. Click âCreateâ - thatâs it! You will be automatically added to this department
Find out how to switch departments here.Â
Just like school or university profiles, department profiles have a Champion.
2. Click on the pencil icon next to your school or university
3. Choose the department youâd like to join from the dropdown menu
4. Click âUpdate profileâ - your department will now show next to your school or university on your profile.
If your school or university has changed, you can easily switch to your new one.
1. Go to your Profile Page
2. Click on the pencil icon next to your school or university
3. Change your school or university in the occupation tab in your profile settings
Note: you can also switch your occupation status here, choosing between the options of employee, student or retired.
4. Search for your new school, university or workplace and select it from the list
Thatâs it! Your new school or university will now show on your Profile Page.
If your school or university doesnât come up, try searching for other possible names. If it hasnât been set up on Love to Ride yet, itâs simple to do it yourself! Find out how.
If you are no longer studying or working at your school or university you can register as an individual.
Although some of our challenges feature competition between workplaces, you can absolutely participate if you don't work/study, Â work independently, or are retired.đ
Follow these simple steps to leave your school or university. đ
1. Head to your school / university profile
2. Find the panel on the right-hand side that looks something like this:
3. Click on 'Leave School / University' and confirm in the pop-up
If you are your school or university Champion, you will be asked to allocate a new Champion before leaving.
Note: If you can't see the panel on the right-hand side of your school or university profile, you can leave/change your school or university by going to the occupation tab in your profile settings and clicking on the pencil icon next to your workplace listing. Then select 'register as an individual' to leave your workplace.
If you do happen to ride as a member of a Club/Group then you can join one of those on Love to Ride.Â
Champions aren't just there to look good (although they do đ ). The Champion is the person with the power to keep everything up to date and looking great on the Workplace Profile âš
As a Champion, you can...
The Info tab on your Workplace Profile is designed as a hub for your Champion to share any riding related information with all co-workers. Whether it's information about bike parking at your workplace, details about your cycle to work scheme, help accessing a bike, upcoming biking-related events, or anything else, this is where it's at!Â
1. Go to your Workplace Profile and click on 'Edit Workplace' underneath the logo
2. Click on 'Info tab' at the top
3. Type in the information you want to share on your Workplace Profile and click on 'Update Messageboard' to save
Note: Everything you share in the Info section will be publicly visible (including for people not associated with your Workplace Profile) unless you choose to hide it from people outside your workplace. Find out how to do that below.
If you only want those associated with your Workplace Profile to see the content you add to the Info tab, you can easily change the settings to do this.
1. Go to your Workplace Profile and click on 'Edit Workplace' underneath the logo
2. Scroll down and check the box that says 'Info tab visible to co-workers only'
3. Remember to click on 'save changes' at the bottom, and you're done!
As a Champion, you have access to your data dashboard! đ See stats such as how many trips people at your workplace, school or university took last week or how many new riders joined your team. You can find your dashboard in your workplace profile settings.Â
1. Go to your workplace, school or university profile and click on 'Edit' underneath the logo
2. Click on the âReportingâ tab
3. Dive deep into the data!
Now that you know where to find your Workplace Insights Dashboard, you can bring to life the riding trends at your workplace and spot opportunities to increase your impact. Check out just some of the things you can access:Â
Click here to access your Workplace Insights Dashboard.
đČChampions can choose between having transport or commute stats on their workplace/school/university page.
âCommuteâ stats only count miles ridden (and CO2 saved) on rides to/from work and rides to/from meetings.Â
âAll transport ridesâ counts miles ridden (and CO2 saved) on rides for every transport purpose:
1. Go to your workplace, school or university profile and click on 'Edit' underneath the logo
2. Click on the âTransport/commute statsâ dropdown to select from, âAll transport ridesâ or âcommute rides onlyâ
3. Your chosen stats will then display on your workplace, school or university profile as either âTransport milesâ or âCommute milesâ
During workplace challenges, your workplace will compete against others of a similar size. You will be placed in the correct size category according to your staff count. It's the Champion's job to make sure that the staff count is correct so that you compete on the correct leaderboard.
Before the challenge starts, Champions should:
1. Check the staff count is correct (see who should be included here)
2. Edit the staff count if necessary
3. Confirm the staff count
Head to your Workplace Profile and find the stats at the top. The below image shows where you can see the staff count. In this example, the total staff count is 9, so Love to Ride - Bristol will compete on the 7-19 staff size leaderboard.
To make it as fair as possible, workplaces and departments should only compete with workplaces/departments that are of a similar size to them, therefore itâs essential that the staff numbers we have are correct.Â
1. Head to your Workplace Profile
2. Click on 'Edit Workplace' below the logo
4. In the third box down, enter the correct staff count
5. Check the box at the bottom of the page to confirm the staff countÂ
Note: Once this box has been checked, it can't be reversed, so make sure you have double-checked beforehand. If there will be changes in numbers due to staff joining or leaving, remember to make allowances for this.
6. Click 'Update workplace' at the bottom to save changes
7. Check on your Workplace Profile to see that the staff count has updated
1. Head to your Workplace Profile settings
You can do this by following the link above or clicking on the name of your workplace on your profile, then clicking on 'Edit Workplace' below your profile picture (see below).
2. Type the new workplace name into the first box
3. Scroll down to the bottom and click on the 'update workplace' button
Get your Workplace Profile looking great by adding your logo. This logo will show up next to your workplace's name on the leaderboards, so it's a great opportunity to show everyone who you are!
1. Head to your Workplace Profile
2. Click on 'Edit Workplace' below the Champion listing
3. Scroll down until you see a section for 'logo'
4. Choose a file from your computer to upload
Note: Only .jpg, .png or .gif files will be accepted.
5. Click on 'Update workplace' at the bottom to save changes
There's nothing like a bit of departmental competition to get everyone fired up and ready to ride! It's easy to set up Department Profiles within your Workplace Profile, just follow these steps. đ
Note: Any staff member can create new Department Profiles unless the Champion disables this option. Find out how to do that here.
1. Go to your Workplace Profile and click on 'Edit workplace' below the profile picture to go to your settings
2. Click on 'Register a new department' on the top right
3. Fill in the department name and staff count - remember to include all department staff in the staff count
4. Click on 'Create', and you're done! đ
You can see your departments at the bottom of your Workplace Profile. It'll look something like this. đ
Sometimes, if multiple staff members set up Department Profiles, it can get a little complicated. If you'd like to prevent new departments from being set up, here's how.
1. Go to your workplace settings by clicking on 'Edit workplace' below the profile picture on your Workplace Profile
2. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and check the box next to 'Do not allow department registrations'
3. Click on 'Update organization' at the bottom to save changes
If somebody is registered with a workplace but no longer works there, Champions can remove them.
If you remove someone from your Workplace or Organization Profile, they will still keep their personal profile but will no longer be associated with your workplace or organization.
Just follow these simple steps to tidy up your staff list đ
1. Head to your Workplace Profile
2. Scroll down until you see the âWorkplace Membersâ section
3. Click on the âXâ next to the person youâd like to remove from your workplace
Note: During a challenge, there will be an additional âTeam Membersâ section. The people on this list are those who are riding and earning points for your workplace during the challenge. You can follow the same process to remove team members from your workplace. đ
When a Champion sends a message to their Workplace Profile, all staff members get an email notification. Stay in touch and remind your co-workers to log those rides!
Just follow these 3 simple stepsâŠ
1. Head to your Workplace or Organization Profile
If your workplace is part of a larger organization (e.g. you work for the Seattle office of a national company that has a Love to Ride profile), you can choose whether you want to message just your workplace or the entire organization.
2. Find the âMessage your teamâ box on the right-hand side
3. Type your message in the box and click âSend Messageâ
All messages sent to your workplace/organization will show up underneath this box. As well as receiving an email notification, your co-workers will be able to see your message when they go to your profile.
It can be a cycling club, a group of friends, or a social riding group you are a part of.
Clubs/Groups are different from 'Workplaces Profiles'. If you are a group of employees, you should create a Workplace Profile instead. Find out how to do that here.
However, if you are a group of people associated with a workplace, but you are not all employees of the workplace, then a Club/Group is the perfect option. For example, if you are a group of employees plus other associated folks who are not employed there (e.g. board members, family and friends, etc.), you should create a Club/Group rather than a Workplace Profile.
Clubs/Groups do not compete based on points during challenges, and can be used year-round, including outside of specific challenges and campaigns.
1. After you register, head to your Profile Page click on 'Join a Club/Group'
2. You'll have two options:
Yes! There is no limit to the number of Clubs/Groups you can be a member of.
If you are already a member of a Club/Group, you can join another by clicking on the '+' symbol next to the name of your Club/Group on your profile.
There is no limit to how many people can be in a Club/Group - the more the merrier! You can filter by group size on the leaderboard to see how you're doing compared to similar-sized groups.
You can invite people to your group by sending them the website address of your group's profile page or clicking on 'invite people' button on the right-hand side of your Club/Group Profile.
Note: The 'Invite by email' link will open up your mailing app. If you do not have a mailing app installed, you can send the direct hyperlink to your Club/Group profile instead (just copy and paste it from the address bar when you are on your Club/Group Profile Page).
Riding with others can be great fun and excellent motivation. If you'd like to find a club to ride with, we recommend doing a quick Google search for cycling/biking clubs in your area. If you find one, you can then see if they have a Club/Group Profile on Love to Ride by searching their name (more info here). If not, you can follow the steps above to set one up and invite the other members to join!
Each site you belong to on Love to Ride will show you information relevant to that community. For example, you can be a member of both the USA site and the Florida site.
On a computer:
1. Head to your profile and tap the cog in the top right corner
2. Under 'SWITCH SITE' select the site you want to view
On a mobile browser:
1. Tap the three horizontal lines on the top left to open the menu
2. Under 'SWITCH SITE' tap the site you want to view
Some of our sites exist in multiple languages, for example, our Santa Cruz site can be viewed in both English and Spanish.
âïžTo switch between languages, click on the cog next to your username:
To protect ridersâ privacy, we donât have a user search feature. You can find folks by looking at the 'Workplaces' tab under the 'Results' tab and finding their workplace, then scrolling down to find them on the members list.Â
Your friend can also send you a direct link to their profile for you to bookmark. If you want to keep track of your friendsâ riding, we suggest creating a club/group so you can all easily see each othersâ activity. Find out how to do that here.
Currently, you can only use the 'Log in with Magic Link' option. Please type in the email address you normally use to log in to Love to Ride. You will then receive a 6-digit code by email. Use this code to log in.
Our Android app is currently in a public testing phase. You can test ride it if you download it from the Play Store.
If you have any feedback or ideas, then get in touch with us at support@lovetoride.net
Automatic logging is one of the key features of our new app. Once it's running, it will work in the background and identify when you're riding a bike. You don't have to do anything when you start or stop your ride. The app will log your rides automatically for you. How great is that?!
As a rider, you have a convenient solution that automatically logs your bike rides on the Love to Ride platform, enters you in prize drawings, and earns points for you during a challenge.
Automatic logging also ensures shorter rides are logged every time, because they are sometimes not logged with other apps. Rides from A to B, to get to the shops/work/university, etc., bring huge benefits for our health, our communities, and the planet. We are on a mission to enable more people to ride bikes comfortably from A to B. Using our app to learn how people ride helps us achieve that. We will be able to share insights in an aggregated (and anonymized) way with local authority partners and bike advocacy groups so they can plan and develop cycling infrastructure where it's needed the most.
The app will remind and guide you through the process of turning on automatic logging.
You can turn on automatic logging under the 'More' tab or click the reminder that appears in the main 'Rides' tab:
Once the feature is turned on, our app will be able to work in the background and automatically log when you ride a bike.
There are three things to check:
1. Check if Auto Logging is on.
You can check this under the 'More' tab. The 'Auto Logging' toggle needs to be switched on.
What if I work from home or donât ride to work?Â
Can my workplace still take part if my co-workers are based in different locations?Â
Can I take part in the challenge if I donât have a workplace?Â
You donât need to ride to work to take part in the challenge. In fact, you only need to go for one ride, even a quick ride around the park or down a quiet street to earn points. As long as the ride takes place during the challenge period then it will contribute to the workplace results.đȘÂ
You also have 48 hours to record your rides after the official end of the challenge.âł
Your workplace can still take part if your work mates live all around the country. Everyone can log rides and compete on the individual leaderboards all year round no matter where theyâre based.
However, only those who live in an area with a site subscription or with a Love to Ride Business subscription will have access to their own Love to Ride business page and be eligible to win prizes. Check out this page for more information on Love to Ride business.
Yes! We encourage individuals to take part in the challenge, including those who do unpaid work or are retired. They can take part simply by heading out for a bike ride during the challenge period.
Individuals can continue to register or join a workplace throughout the duration of the challenge period. They can also join a club/group and compete on the groups leaderboard, available all year round. Find out more about Clubs/Groups here.
If you encourage someone to take part in a Love to Ride challenge, you are an encourager, and sometimes you can earn points for that!
The simplest way to be named as someoneâs encourager is to use the âInvite Friendsâ section of your Rider Profile to send them your unique invite link.
Click on the âInvite Friendsâ tab on your Rider Profile and choose how you want to send your link. Or, just click on the âcopy linkâ button and paste it wherever you like!
If someone uses your link to register for a challenge, and goes on to log a ride during the challenge, you will automatically be named as their encourager and will earn encourager points! Now thatâs simple.
âïžPlease note: If your points don't come across straight away, please give it 24 hours before contacting us. When the site is very busy, there can be a slight delay.
If somebody encouraged you to join a Love to Ride challenge, you can add them as your encourager. They'll be awarded the Encourager badge and, during some kinds of challenges, this will earn them points.
If you joined the challenge using someoneâs unique invite link, you donât need to do anything as they will automatically be named as your encourager (you can check on your Rider Profile - it will say the name of your encourager under your profile picture). If you didnât use their link but they still encouraged you to ride during the challenge, there are a couple of ways to manually name them as your encourager.
đ„ Please note: you can only select one encourager per challenge (not one for every ride).
When you log your first ride during a challenge manually on the website, you'll see this message đ
Simply enter the name of the person who encouraged you, select them from the list of search results, and the system will assign them as your encourager. đ
If you normally sync your rides from another app (like Strava or MapMyRide), or you didn't choose an encourager when you logged your first ride, you can name your encourager on your Rider Profile.
Simply go to your Rider Profile and click on 'Add Encourager' underneath your profile picture. Type the name of the person who encouraged you, choose them from the list, et voila!
Note: This can only be done during a challenge.
If two workplaces have the same number of points on the leaderboard then they will both come in the same place, e.g. if both workplaces scored 10,000 points, which was the highest for their size category, then they will both come in 1st place.đ„
During a campaign (and always before any challenge results are announced) the leaderboards are audited to ensure that the results are accurate. First we conduct a pre-audit before the end of the challenge, looking for any workplace profiles that donât look quite right. For example:Â
These issues are resolved by contacting the workplace champion and confirming. Then when the challenge and 48-hour grace period has ended, our auditing system automatically identifies any user accounts that have suspicious activity.đ For example:
After that, we make a final judgement as to whether this activity is suspicious and contact any users affected.
Please support us to run a fair and fun competition by logging your rides honestly and letting us know if you notice anything suspicious. Just email support@lovetoride.net with a link to the profile and weâll look into it.
Every workplace/school/university that takes part in a Love to Ride challenge can access an epic graphic with their leaderboard position and workplace name.
This can be viewed anytime during the challenge period. You might like to send this to your co-workers or co-students as a motivator or after the challenge to celebrate a great month of riding.đ„ł Hereâs how to access your graphic:
2. Click on âGet the Graphicâ and choose your favourite graphicÂ
3. Screenshot your graphic and share it with friends and co-workers
đ Mac users can use Shift, Command and 4.Â
đȘ Windows users click âStartâ and search for âSnipping Toolâ.
đIf there are prizes to win, you will see them on the Prizes page. To be in with a chance to win prizes you must be on a site that has premium features or be part of a Workplace with a Love to Ride for Business subscription. Check out this page for more information.
You can win prizes in a variety of ways - by earning points, sharing a story, and encouraging other people to ride. Each of the prizes will have the criteria for winning them outlined on the page. Prizes are drawn randomly based on these criteria.
Some prizes will have special conditions (for example, only new riders are eligible for some prizes), or only be for riders who are taking part in a campaign with their workplace. If youâre not eligible for prizes, youâll see a banner at the top of the Prizes page with more info on how you can take part and get access to prizes.
When someone joins the site they fill out a short survey. Everyone is then designated as a New Rider, Occasional When someone joins Love to Ride they fill out a short survey. New Riders are folks who've ridden only a few times or not at all in the last 12 months as indicated in their survey. We sometimes offer prizes for New Riders as an extra incentive to get involved with a campaign.
