Tonight we number many but ride as one
In honor of those not with us, friends, mothers, fathers, sisters, sons
With helmets on tight and heads down low,
We ride in silence, cautious and slow
The wheels start spinning in the lead pack
But tonight we ride and no one attacks
The dark sunglasses cover our tears
Remembering those we held so dear
Tonight's ride is to make others aware
The road is there for all to share
To those not with us or by our side,
May God be your partner on your final ride

50 Ways to Cross Your 50

This is a one-way ride ‚ÄĒ Best way to arrive is via transit: Take EB SacRT Gold Line Train arriving Glenn Station at 6:16 PM and then take a 30 minute, 5-mile ride on the beautiful Willow Creek Bikeway and the not-so-beautiful Bidwell Street Bike Lane/Sidewalk to get to the starting point. Only Beautiful U.S. 50 crossings on the ride ‚ÄĒ guaranteed. Take a ride exploring the available ways to cross U.S. Highway 50 within the Sacramento Valley. From Placerville Road in Folsom to Westacre Road in West Sacramento, U.S. Highway 50 offers some of the best and worst ways to cross a freeway. We‚Äôre going to take a look at the best ways, and skip over the worst ways. We‚Äôll be crossing on pedestrian overcrossings, Class I bikeways, at least one dirt road, a Class IV Cycle Track, among other modes. We‚Äôll be staying away from crossings with freeway ramps because we want to keep it safe, and freeway ramps aren‚Äôt fun for bicyclists and other living things. The route is about 25 miles as the crow flies, but since we‚Äôll be zig-zagging across Hwy 50, it will probably end up closer to 40 miles. Bring a light, bring a spare tube and pump to use for yourself or to share with others. The ride is not supported, but we‚Äôll do our best to leave no rider behind. Our pace will be approx. 12 mph, with extra cushion for breaks.

When: May 29, 6.45 p.m. til 11 p.m.

Where: 112401 Folsom boulevard, Rancho Cordova, CA 95724
