I had my knee replacement surgery jus before Halloween, 2017. I did my PT religiously and walked a good bit. I was back on the bike by February 2018, commuting to work, training for century rides and getting back to the daily joy that cycling gives me. You'll be back on your bike soon enough. Walking and just getting around in daily life will be much better, too! You just gotta get past those first 72 hours after surgery. Good luck with the new knee!

I have a similar story. I began riding again after 17 year hiatus and met a rider my first year who brought up the subject of Centennial. I had never heard the term prior to meeting him. With that being said, I set a goal to ride a Centennial. COVID allowed me to ride freely in the streets and smaller goal to train for the Centennial was to ride 30 miles every other day. That year (2020) I rode 3500 miles. Haven't done the Centennial yet but I will. 63 now so it's never too late,

Extending the commute to avoid traffic allows for some half way decent views along the river. Spending 9 miles on a multi-use path while commuting in the morning is also great preparation for the day.

My favourite place to ride is Porthmadoc, Gwynedd. We have our holiday caravan sited there so me and my husband and our dog go there frequently.
